Though I believe that to be 100% possible and even know people who truley
are, I think the majority of people who claim that are riding a safety
net. It takes alot of life and experience to really know that in your
heart. I think the overwhelming majority of people go one way or the
other. But who knows, maybe you are. I'm not saying at all that you
aren't. It's funny when young guys come on here because they're always
"bi". That's a natural way of saying, "I'm gay but i'm just figuring it
out and i'm still thinking I like girls because i've been taught to think
that." I think it's cute and a very natural transition.

I traveled around speaking with other cast members about the experience

that I could turn it into a diversity lecture so I went out on a limb and
tried it. Schools loved it and I began getting booked by word of mouth. I
spoke with my last cast member a few weeks ago and told my agent I'd never
do it again. The show was the launching point but i've got to divorce
myself from that as much as possible to move onto more important things.

It surprises me how some people trap themselves in well this pigeon hole
of society and wonder why they cannot relate or remotely understand
others outside their culture. I mean I am not disrespecting those that
choose to live those lives, it is just with the choice to do so they
cannot be surprised by the consequences, after all every choice has its

even though she is now an American citizen she has a different

because of the fact that she's from outside our culture and was really
able to explain viewpoints of our society as seen from beyond the borders.
Americans have a hard time seeing beyond our cultural scope and ithelps
for someone to "crack the egg" by explaining this so that we can move on
to explain how things can be viewed differently.

all these lonely days
seems like yesterday i was a little child
playing games and running wild
only kids discover
in a world of lovers
then it went away
so far away
those days of colors
days of colors...
can i get someone
to help me with the sun
it brightens up my way
i need it back again to play
sad of me to know
everything is grown
how quickly everyone
has faded from those days of color...
I love this song because it's very fitting to this point in life when
everyone around me is "growing up" so quickly and putting youth far behind
them. I also love the part about the sun...very fitting to Seattle!
This song is laid down over a jazz/downtempo fusion.

in the bigger picture of uncontrolled, highway connected, suburbia. I
believe there are good examples of it out there but most suburban
development code encourages bad development and dependance on the car.
Plus, I'll always be a huge supporter of concentrated urban development
because it brings the human tribe so closely together for interaction and

But new "Subcities" are developing which concentrate businesses, homes,
and services within short distances.
Example 1: In south Orange County (Laguna Beach included, where you have
visited) we have limited growth, freeway development, and controlled
environmental standards. Irvine is considered to be the new "Subcity" to
L.A. reducing traffic and polutants.
Example 2: We successfully fought the conversion of El Toro Marine Air
base to a super large Airport (ala LAX). It will now become a park, some
homes, some recreation, some business, a protected area, and low income
housing.

yeah, I see the split within the gay community building and also feel that
it's inevitable. The more mainstream acceptance that happens, the quicker
the split will happen and the more the extremist will rise. It's sad
because it's doing exactly what you said, alienating straight supporters
and gays themselves. This extremist movement will prove to be destructive
but it's something that wont be avoided.
as for suburbia, you're right that new types of suburban development are
being tampered with but ultimately, these new ways of development are only
a blip on the radar and traditional suburban development contiunes to be
the dominate force. As long as this continues, massive highway subidies
will continue, massive quantities of fuel and resources will be consumed
and hoards of people will continue living in a disconnected, suburban
wasteland. My homework is done.

(hair)
Eric has been monitoring this board while I have been teaching at my
Univ. Lab. (I'm a grad student labe asst.)
He has brought up some issues that you have talked about in the last
week to a fortnight. We decided to post some comments regarding your
views, to get your feedback.
First: Regarding my Uncle Jim. As a straight who supports gay causes, he
finds that many radical gays are further alienating themselves from the
so-called "mainstream" gay groups. He says, and Eric and I agree, that a
major split in the gay movement is at hand. He feels this will hurt gay
causes among the straight community and cause many gay mainstream
couples, etc. to meld back into the closet. This schism is why Uncle Jim
doesn't visit this board anymore. He feels that his presence here is not
welcomed by some (not all) gays because he is the straight enemy. This
is sad.
Second, we live in an emerging community which you have scathingly
labeled "suburbia" in very general terms, without looking at specific
demographics which show that this is not always a bad thing. Even the
author of the book you quote is involved in developing new types of
communities and has studied some here in Southern California that are
successful and he has adapted them to his view of what new communities
should be like. So, if you what to join his general attack on city vs
suburbia we think you should do more homework.
We would appreciate some feedback or a debate with you and others on
these issues.
Thanks
Augusta Georgia...what a #### hole...

Man, like he said, you're a very intelligent person and I think you do add
alot to this board. I like having you around but I can't keep asking you
to tone it down. People here are obviously upset by the tone you take with
them. Please, one last time, be respectful in the way you respond to
people. Having a differing opinion is great but you can't go degrading
people the way you do. This is the last time I'll ask and then i'll have
to take it from there. I don't want this to go that way. please.

Danny,
First, I want to thank you again for creating such a great place for
people to come and hang out with others and exchange ideas, get help,
and offer help to others. That being said, I know you are aware of the
problems in the past with Jason, and I know you have warned him on
several occasions to watch how he treats other… he has gotten really
good with you, however, he is still a very hateful toward just about
everyone else (as you can see from the posts below). I know that this is
a real pain in the a*ss for you to have to even deal with… but you are
hosting a forum and there is no one else to turn to…Jason attacks just
about everyone who post here (besides you)… he is like the sentinel, he
just waits and watches until someone posts something that he disagrees
with and then he lunges on them like some wild freak animal. If you were
having a party in your home and one of the guests was arguing and
attacking all the other guests, I would think you would ask them to
shape up or leave, and I know you have asked Jason on numerous occasion
to treat people with respect…. but he hasn’t and doesn’t. I think it’s
time to ask him to leave… Differing opinions are good, and they should
be cultivated and encouraged in this forum, but this is not what is
happening.
Anyway, thanks for listening and I wish this was something that you
didn’t have to deal with, but it’s on your plate… thanks again for all
your efforts in creating a place for support and a safe haven for gay
people…
Jason, if you are reading this and I’m sure you are.. if you attack me,
I will come through my computer and show you god! I feel sorry for you,
you obviously have a lot of personal problem, you are also a very
intelligent person who keeps current on the issues of the day, as a lot
of others here do, but your anger and hatred has gotten the best of you
and you have turned into an ugly vile person that hates a world that is
different from his.. I hope you can get the help you need…
I've got to run kids...

though they fully have the right to be angry. However, One kid said,

and you've been to Fayetteville, so you know it's not some backwards
redneck town, but even the new people you meet don't seem to live up to
what you expect. I was at my happiest point when I was going to school in
Portland and my neighbors in my apartment downtown were two British twins
to the right and guy from South Africa to the left and across the hall a
54 year old dressmaker. They always provided me with hours of good wine
and great conversation. Maybe I should move back to Portland, I miss it

How do you spread out do something different if there is nothing different
to do. Not really like hanging out, but just in your mind? I read way too
much. But honestly, in a place like Fayetteville there's not much room to
expand - I know I sound like I'm whining - and because I do understand the
bigger picture, I have to get up, get out and do something about it.
Suggestions?
thanks man...
