What's up guys...just got back from New Orleans and wanted to let you all know Paul and I survived Mardi Gras. ####, don't want to do that again for a few years. As for speaking appearances...I have a new one to announce...i'll be at North Central College in Naperville, IL on March 26. Hope to see some of you there. take it easy.

..we did survive the eighth deadly sin, Mardi Gras. Without a scratch we might add. Could possibly say that it was the largest collection of trash we'd ever seen and the litter... (kidding).

Danny, Kelley and Jamie were down on Bourbon St. promoting Southern Comfort for the whole thing. Couldn't see doing it any other way, walking amongst the hords would be impossible. They were staying at the Royal Sonesta, second story balcony. You can check out some of the pictures on www.southerncomfort.com under the "events" tab.

Waitiking for a good cause, you know, to raise money for. We have a couple "grass root" causes that seem promising but they don't have that extra something we're looking for. So pass any ideas on...

Yes and that means another painful auction. It's worth the rewards and the last one helped the Virginia Highlands Baptist Church extremely.

What's up with the earthquakes and Seattle? Hope all is good.

About that song...

...that goes through my head. Our song is "Crash" by Dave Matthews. Actually saw him in Red Rocks, before hype. Don't listen to him much anymore, he lost the basics.

Sting, makes the top ten list, but I'm partial (this will be suprising) to Limp Bizkit, Korn and Beastie Boys. My favorites Rage (pre-breakup), Korn, Henry Rollins and Marley. Do I get plus points for the last four at least they have a political message?!?!

I think that's why I'm having such a problem with this freedom of speech thing and where I actually stand. Just confused until someone shows or teaches me better.

Your thoughts?

Paul

P.S. Cyril, I was writing about the NYC show

...not worth it, sometimes they're clammy (only kidding).

"D" said it was very unorganized, something about David and Cell phones, no water, three hours, bad furniture and unique (thats my political word for stupid) questions. I don't know if it will have a future beyond the one show.

Charlotte, NC what a road trip. A true fan I take it?

This freedom of speech excuse, I don't know. Should we even take the slightest chance that something in a lyric prompts a kid to bring a gun to school and blow someones head off.

Hell, I was just trying to get through geometry.

But in the same aspect, where does it all end. I can just see people rationalizing singing about gay people will cause some child to out and find himself a boyfriend.

Still undecided, I agree with the fact that one of the many reasons was to bring the spotlight a little closer, but what true artist gives a s*hit about spotlights?

Same 'ole, same 'ole... -Paul 02/13/2001

...people on the board tonight, now that I'm well rested, you ready for another round?

To answer your question, Dave, I think it's likely that you will be able to meet them in person. Coming from someone that knows no details. If it's like the other speaking engagements, they always find time at the end. Keep your fingers crossed, I know that hope is not a method but if it's all you got, what the hell.

About going out...

...has not let up at all. Still as hard as ever. Finding a place to eat on a Sunday night is next to impossible but at least it's sharpening our culinary skills. I guess there is always that bright side...

...so getting to go to nyc. Should be a great time. Look for me, I'm the one with the dark skin and black hair...

It's this Saturday and the tickets are going, going, but not gone. Check them out on www. ticketmaster.com; state "new york" and then enter "real world" in the search block. Can I also sell you this beautiful Aztec automobile.

Hopefully this will be the stepping stone for an across the nation sort of thing. All I see is countless hours of leaving him at airports. It has its good and bad points.

I'll be watching for the war paint and the foam finger.

...nothing can replace the responsibility of the parent.

First, many parents are all together too estatic about using our school system as a babysitting service.

Second, diversity is taught from two sources, the parents and society (I believe). The public school system is too structured to shoulder that type of forward thinking.

Now college is a different story but according to statistics, only fewer than 7 percent of the nation is afforded the luxury.

My two cents...

I have yet to wet myself. When it gets to that point, I guess I'll have to wipe off and get to sleep. Someone is just trying to tell me something at that point. What finds you up at this time of night?

Hope it's not one of those night jobs.

...and all the rest of you. About that Mardi Gras thing, you may just run into us. No pictures though (ha)! All for the hand shake thing though.

The house has changed a bit, they had to fence it off because of all the looting. We go back every once in a while to visit Kelley and Peter. New Orleans is a love/hate relationship, can't make up my mind about it.

Kell, all that and a bag of chips. Giving the "real world" Kelley a run for her money. A dangerous combination in a female, beauty and a brain (I say this light heartedly and without prejudice).

Max... from NYC, living in Florida and partying in New Orleans. Most movies don't get that good. Your brother is luckier though...a picture with Fred Durst (you can't beat it).

...does anyone have a site I can go to to see the face behind the words. Wish I could do the same, but you know...

...that whole blur thing, I'm kinda attached.

Is anyone going to see the love of my life in NYC, I'm sure that one of the regulars could just say their "board name" and send him running.

Here's something for you all to ponder, that Georgia state flag controversy. Here's what's running through my noggin'.

I was ignorant in thinking that at least it was a start. You know, putting the confederate (in smaller version) at the bottom of the Georgia state flag...

...Do you think the Jewish nation would accept a miniature swastika on the bottom of the German flag?
You just have to go into things with the belief that you are going to win your fight and without giving defeat a second thought. There is no room for the phrase,
"Well at least it's a start".
When you accept that form of reasoning you're saying that even a small amount of hate is something you can live with.

Glad to hear from all of you and from some of my most favorite places on Earth. Too bad I can't say the same for you, Thibault. France, on my many visits, has never been too kind to me. When we visit, it's your job to show me otherwise.
Liam, glad to see that your better half is back from Goa and in one piece. There's nothing like being together again after an absence.
Joey, what can I say. I plan to have a pint or two or three (hell, just give me an IV). We plan to be on your doorstep also, yes just like Thibaults'.

one last thing... -Danny 02/08/2001

One last thing you guys, then i've gotta run. Let me tell you what our country's biggest problem is. It is the root of all our troubles and we are spreading this disease to the rest of the world. It's call materialism. We think that in order to be successful, one must own a ton of ####. Crimes start here. People are murdering, stealing and dying to own a piece of the pie. Families are falling apart. People are so unhappy. Relationships are crashing. The lines between reality and dreams are being blurred. Debts are out of control. it's a sick, never-ending cycle of work, earn, spend that never satisfies us. Stop the madness!
Danny

agreed -Danny 02/08/2001

Hey Joey...i agree...Snatch is alot like "Lock, Stock.."...but the whole Brad Pitt accent made it what it is. And of course, there was Goldie's token appearance...what's up with that?
As for Death Sentence...good question. Unfortunately here in the states, there seems to be no other choice at the moment. For an industrialised nation compared to most, we're plagued by serious crime and the prison system is overwhelmed. I myself don't agree with the death penalty (it's pretty crude and uncivilised), but at the moment, I see no other option. I do believe however that the electric chair is incredibly barbaric and needs to go immediately. I think legal injection should be the only method-Qucik and painless. As for Ireland, unlike you guys, guns are still legal and proliferate among our society. They are as much a part of our culture as is the statue of liberty...thus, they aren't going anywhere. With guns all over, as well as violence being portrayed in the media everywhere one looks, I don't see crime decreasing anytime soon, nor overcrowding in prisons slowing. Any others out there with comments?

whoa buddy...slow down. I say, go for it. email the guy...what do you have to lose? leave out the sweater thing though, that's lame. just be upfront and tell him the situation. If he's straight, oh well. There's way too much beating around in this world. If you want something, have the balls to go for it. Life's too short to be wasting time. I thought Paul was straight when I first saw him, but I had the balls to call him over and bluntly ask him...and well, you know the rest.
To Voodoo Barbie...i agree. we live in a nation, well world of hypocricy. It makes me sick. I think the drug laws need to go. Focus on real crime for christ sake like murder and hate crimes. It is so rediculous that people are locked up over something like weed, a ####ing plant that grows naturally! Propoganda is a #####!

Tiger and Dragon -Danny 02/07/2001

hey you guys...just in case you haven't seen them yet, you have to go out and see "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" and "Snatch". They are both excellent and have good fight scenes as well as unbelievable cinematography. I have to say though, beware of "Crouching Tiger..." the story can be hard to follow because you'll catch yourself listening to the Chinese instead of reading the subtitles. At least that's what happened to me! Enjoy.

so the board is doing that thing again... -
Paul 02/07/2001

...hope it's not pissing you off thibault. Hey just giving you all an update on the home-life. It's outstanding, but that's not surprising (do you hate me or what?).

Even with the schedule-from-hell that Danny and I share, we always have time for each other. They're just jobs and someone to spend the rest of your life with, last time I looked, is much harder to find than the vast number of employment opportunities out there.

Just to give you an update on his schedule. He is heading to Centralia College (about a 45 min drive south of Seattle), I think on or about the 15th. To speak, what a job.

On the 17th, off to NYC, where he has made it a goal of his to participate in one of the true good things MTV has done for this generation and get involved in its anti-hate campaign.

The New Orleans Crew with others are doing that tour thing on the same day. If you wanted information and tickets just goto www.ticketmaster.com. Under venues pick "new york" and then enter "real world" in the search block. Lets get down to the nitty gritty, it's about the money (only joking, no I'm not).

Then its vacation time with Peter and Kelley for the both of us. Should be a blast, should I tell you where? Ok, we're all going to...

Some other colleges at the end of Feb and the start of March.

That is as much as I can give you. Not by choice, I just don't know about the details.

Hope that answers some of your questions. Take care and do something I wouldn't, life is so much more interesting.

Paul

About that Danny thing... -
Paul 02/04/2001

...he is not around. He spoke in Connecticut last night with Julie and Puck. Coming home today, but Connecticut is a far cry from Goa. Danny is terribly interested in spending time there, the music is out of this world, so he (your man) is lucky. Too bad you're not with him, probably next time.

Thanks for help on that nautica thing, he does look good. That show happened so long ago, sometime in the summer, can't remember.

What do you all think about that tour thing. Will it work? I don't think the interest is still there, but I could be wrong.

Max, Ernie C, J.J., FTWB (I hope I got that right) and thibault... -
Paul 02/04/2001

...great to see you all on the board. We've gotten ourselves into a good discussion. I am beaming with excitement...

Then Thibault has to ask us again if we are going to France...

Thibault, God or France, lets talk about God.

Ernie C, are you still alive.

Max are you still kickin' it in New Orleans for Mardi Gras?

J.J., what can i say?

FTWB, great quote, that's one for the books.

Paul

P.S. Thibault, France is still on for the summer (just wanted to let you know). ...not at all. Theology is not the understanding of God, it's the study of religions (I believe). Getting into a slapping face compitition, will just get you into trouble. Let people talk long enough, you give them the rope to hang themselves with. Another option is just to ignore.

You just have to know your audience. Most people will just turn themselves off after the first few minutes unless you add some few choice words as attention grabbers (he or she just went for the throat).

We are all doing this for one of five reasons:

1. To change peoples' minds (very hard to do if I might add).

2. To bring light to a viewpoint that you have not seen yet.

3. To show superior intelligence because they lack attention (very easy to do).

4. Bring light to a viewpoint they have not had the opportunity to see that others have.

5. To hook up (only joking).

I really am excited that I have given "its me" an opportunity to respond. I really would like to hear what has to be said. You know there is a small chance (small indeed) to add some light to my vast knowlege of the subject.

You always have a friend in me...

Paul

My fingers are tingling a discussion on God... -
Paul 02/04/2001

...sounds like some are talking on subjects that they are not fully schooled on.

Coming to a board and slinging the perverbial mud is not an educated way of reaching an audience. Intelligent discussion from intelligent people is...

Distance yourself from forms of lower life by showing humanity.

Judge not or lest (I think I got that right) you be judged. You can judge others, that is your right given by God. But remember, point the finger and three will be pointed back at you. Casting stones we can all do, but only if you are a point in your life where an expectation of God to do the same to you, tenfold.

Anyway, the definition of gay does not include child molester, AIDS ridden or filthy. You're intelligent (there I go making assumtions again), look it up in the websters.

Paul

Michael Walker... -
Paul 02/04/2001

...thanks for the sentiment (with the Doc Cheys bowl). It was yours to keep, we have the last of the three. One was auctioned off on MTV, one you won and the other we have. We only need the one, I think danny is thinking about sending it back to you. The thought is what is important.

How is Seattle these days, cold I hear!

Paul

Gary... -
Paul 02/04/2001

...thanks, you're more read up on this than I and I appreciate the info.

About MTV and Europe, I understand completely. It would be a perfect situation, undercover, just how I like it.

The tour is not ran by MTV or Bunim and Murray, it's independent. I think it's a good idea. Most people are disapointed that they are unable to attend the college functions. This opens it up to everybody.

I did say Puck, he and Julie flew in from California. I hear there was a large crowd last night, about 1200.

Again thanks for the info, I'm sorry you could not catch the show. I hear everyone was up to par (personality I mean).

I hope I got to address everyone, if not my apologies.

Paul

About the tour... -
Paul 02/04/2001

...I think kell has the details in her archives (angelfire)...

I will take a look but see the previous post.

It happens in NYC, www.ticketmaster.com is selling the tickets. It will give you the details about the location. You have to pick NYC as the venue and then in the search block enter "Real World". There is no information on what it's about, most of the major advertising is happening in NYC. I believe it's like the college speaking engagements. Ten realworlders and open to everyone (for a fee though).

I could not find any details on the net. Probably you could do better than I.

Paul

Chuck and Gary... -
Paul 02/04/2001

...so politically correct, are you two trying to get on my good side.

That whole luck thing, it was nice of you to say. Your right, in my heart, I truly believe that I am more than he.

How are you two viewing these pictures from nautica? I actually saw the show live, interesting, but not my bag of chips.

Trying to get a consensus on Kelley and Danny's interest in trying to get to the high schools across the nation to speak to the young people that could benifit the most. The college audience is too set in their ways.

Also, they are doing this tour, kicking off in NYC. Selling tickets on www.ticketmaster.com under "venue" (new york city) and in the search block "Real World". This is the test to see if it is worth sending them (the ten real worlders participating) across the United States.

Enough with the car sales, how are you two doing. Up relatively early, others are just trying to fight off the headaches.

Miyu you have... -
Paul and Danny 02/01/2001

...taken us in the other direction, Japan.

Welcome, it's good to hear that you are from the "land of the rising sun" (I hope I'm getting these right). As a matter of fact I've been to Japan, many times. You can say that I'm a world traveler of sorts. Plan to return with Danny by my side. Give Japan and Okinawa (if I'm butchering the spelling, you can see how the education system in America is working on it's youth) a run for their money.

About that education can it be any worse than the U.S. I believe not, but hopefully we have people in power concentrating on that area of our society.

Take care and we hope you return, the board can get pretty colorful with people from all walks of life.

Joey and Ron... -
Paul 02/01/2001

...up a little early, are we. Always some time for our friends on the other side of the pond. Thanks Ron, Kell has set up a great site on anglefire and works very hard to capture all the messages that post and a couple extra.

Ireland is my "most favorite" of all places. I have been four times and always find time to wrestle 1/2 pint tickets from old ladies at the Guinness Brewery in Dublin.

There is nothing like it. Had a few pints of "Scrumpy's" (did I butcher that one too?) and found myself face down in the gutter enjoying that wonderful spring water...

...mixed with a little garbage, I might add.

When I have more time, I'll write your ear off. For now...

Take Care

Paul
